“A piece of advice I have for other students is to make use of all the resources around you. From the Office of Peer Tutoring to The Aspire Center, there are many places to receive guidance.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage because of the Nursing Program and the faculty-to-student ratio.”

Campus involvement

“I am involved in the Nursing Student Council and the men’s swim and dive team. Being a part of the Nursing Student Council has presented me with many opportunities to represent my cohort and help bridge the gap between students and faculty. Also, being on the swim team has allowed me to compete in a sport I enjoy, while simultaneously improving my time-management skills.”

Career goal

“I hope to pass the NCLEX and begin my career as a pediatric nurse.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spots on campus are the corner rooms in the David A. Straz Jr. Center that overlook the lake. This is where I get the most work done for sure.”

Advice for other students in your major?

“Other students should consider a nursing major because it is a fulfilling pathway if you enjoy helping others. A piece of advice I have for other students is to make use of all the resources around you. From the Office of Peer Tutoring to The Aspire Center, there are many places to receive guidance.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“My 8-year-old self would be excited that I am studying a career with a heavy focus on problem-solving and science. Even at that age, I knew I wanted to do something that involved science. To be able to follow through and pursue an education that satisfies that desire is a surreal feeling.”

Scholarships

“Yes, I received the Highest Honors Scholarship. To me, this scholarship resembles the dedication I have to my education. It also allows greater financial freedom, which is one less thing to stress about while pursuing a degree.”
